Master's Appeal 2011 Dear Brother,
Some 220 years ago Hiram Lodge #18 was founded, and 110 years ago, Brothers just like us were planning to donate funds to build the facility we now enjoy. I’ve no doubt sacrifices were made. Those Brothers, under the leadership of their Worshipful Master Louis T. Briscoe, paid forward. Now it’s our turn. Through the efforts of, and contributions of many Brothers, we have an opportunity to re-endow, set aside emergency funds and build that “nest egg” which can eventually provide for an annual scholarship or other worthy causes. We do this for brothers not yet Masons. We do this because Freemasonry and our Lodge must survive the next 220 years. We do this because we are thankful we are Masons. We all should be proud because we can and will ensure our Lodge’s future. As my Masonic year draws to a close, I look back at all we’ve been able to do with extreme gratitude. I’m grateful to have been able to serve our lodge, thankful to have had the support of wonderful Brothers, and in awe of what our Fraternity represents. We’re all grateful for what this represents to all of us. We’ve made progress this year, aiming our finances in the right direction. But, we must build our emergency fund and let that be the start of our strategic endowment. To that end, this “Master’s Appeal” goes out to all our brothers. If each of you donates according to your means, we can reach the goal of adding an additional $6000 to our long term fund by our December 7th annual meeting. The math is straightforward. A few brothers with means making significant donations, along with a greater number making intermediate or smaller donations will let us reach this goal in short order. If we can increase this fund to $20,000 by the end of next year, the interest on this endowment can fund an annual Hiram Lodge #18 Scholarship; a legacy to future generations. I appeal to you, simply for the love of Freemasonry and our Lodge, to make this pay-forward donation for the next generation of Brothers. Give as liberally you can, without injury to yourself.
Fraternally, Bill Hillman, Master Hiram Lodge #18 |
